You’ve decided it’s time for you to get a logo. Whether it’s a brand new start or a refresh, we’re happy to hear it, and we’d like to make the process as simple as possible for everyone involved. Having delivered logos to many happy organizations, we know what works and have made that into a streamlined process to stop hiccups and delays before they happen. Join us as we walk you through what to expect when you’re expecting a logo.

First Thing’s First
The first steps are always the most important. We want to get to know you and your organization, what your business stands for, what your values are, and what you’re trying to do. All of these things should be conveyed with your logo. We know, it’s a big task. But trust us on this. The more we know about you, the better we can communicate those things to your clients.
We’ll have a meeting with you and the people who are key to your logo’s design, hash out those important details, and maybe talk about some ideas for what your logo might look like. If you have no idea what you might want, we may have to do some more work at this stage to get some creative juices flowing.

Part Two: Once the Deal is Sealed
Once we have a decent idea of what you want your logo to communicate, we give you the task of hunting down a few logos in the real world that you really like. We’re not copying them or anything, but talking about what you like from various other designs helps us get a clearer picture for what you’re looking for.
Sometimes talking about another organization’s logo can get you to a place where you can say what you couldn’t put into words before. You might stumble into a theme that gives us a direction for your own design. You may find there are specific things you just don’t like across all examples. That gives us a clear picture of what to avoid. It’s not magic, but talking around something can show us the shape of your design values.

Part 3: As Your Logo Develops
With the collaborative brainstorming session done, now it’s time for us to start putting dreams on paper, so to speak. We will sketch some concepts for your logo, sometimes taking input from several designers and the rest of the team. At this point, every design is a valid design, and we’re happy to explore the things that you’ve confirmed you’re looking for.
The best of these concepts will be digitized and presented to you in black, since we don’t want anyone to get hung up on the nuances of color. Your logo in black should work to communicate the form and message you’re after. Expect 5-6 concepts when we get back to you.

Part 4: Approvals, Revisions, and Tweaks: Before Delivery
Now it’s time for you to do some hard work. How do you choose a winner from all of these concepts? Most clients talk to their boards or other important members of the team, consult with their hearts, and pick a few to go on to a color round.
We make the smaller edits to the logo according to your feedback, and then present some options incorporating color into the design. Generally this is followed with up to two rounds of edits, narrowing down to the final one or two options. most of which will be displayed in stacked and horizontal configurations with the logomark and wordmark so you can get a better picture of how it might look on business cards, a website, or merchandise. Additional rounds of edits and input will lengthen the process, so be sure to get input from anyone who might need to have a say before moving on to avoid costly 11th hour redesigns.

Part 5: After Your Logo is Delivered
When everyone is happy and final edits have been approved, we will package your logo files along with your brand guidelines, so you can easily explain your logo journey to anyone who is curious how you got such an awesome logo.
It may go without saying that you’re going to want to put that logo on a bunch of stuff. During the process, we’ll definitely be talking about how we can help with that, so by now you should have a solid plan for making that happen. But if you don’t, just know we can help you get that beautiful new addition to your organization seen by anyone you want to show it to. The logo may be done, but our relationship can go so much further!
