When Elsye Jones came to us from Blissfield, Michigan, we didn’t realize that we were adding an absolute firecracker of an asset to the team. Elsye tackled anything we threw at her with a smile and an enthusiastic attitude. She was passionate about every aspect of the creative process, an indispensable whiz with photos, and made every project she was on better. In her hobby time and in her real life, she was a great cheerleader.
Apparently, while she was with us in 2018 and 2019, she also fell in love with DeKalb. After moving here, she had the confidence to move anywhere and be successful. Job opportunities took her to Las Vegas for 3 years, but she vowed to come back to the area. We’re happy to say she’s now working at Northern Illinois University as their Athletics Social and Digital Media Manager. Her experience at OC coupled with her education and passion for what she does got her in the door, and now, once again, she’s a proud resident of DeKalb.
“The amount of studio photography and video experience I gained was incredible. OC gave me so many opportunities to learn different lighting techniques,” Elsye shares. “I learned about working with different personality types, and gained so much confidence in my skills. OC was the great, positive atmosphere that I really needed.”
Did we mention she also runs her own photography business? Check out Elsye’s website to book her for any event you have in the future. Trust us. We may be a little biased, but we think she’s great!
We feel like we gained more than a great intern in Elsye. She was and remains a friend to the whole team, and we only wish we could see her more often.
“My first summer at OC was the best 3 months of my life, and I’m forever grateful. We bonded on team outings, and I know I have a second home there if I need it.”
We’re so happy to see you succeed, Elsye! Visit soon.
