Did you know that there are 8 visual elements of design? Each of the visual elements may be used on their own to stress a specific character of design. Each element can express various qualities such as:
- movement and rhythm
- space and depth
- growth and structure
- harmony and connection
- noise and calm
as well as a wide range of emotions that make up the subjects of great art.
In this 8 part series, we will walk you through each of the elements: Line, Shape, Color, Tone, Pattern, Texture, Volume, and Form. Before we break each element down, here is a graphic to help you remember them all:
